Christmas Crakers -
Liege, Aachen & Cologne
16th - 19th December 2022

Nothing quite beats sipping a glass of warm mulled wine while strolling through a continental Christmas Market to get you in the Christmas spirit and this year we are visiting three of the best in Belgium and Germany. From our base at the Ramada hotel  on the banks of the Meuse, in Liege, we will travel to Aachen and Cologne to really get Christmas off with a bang.

The City of Liege's Christmas Village (Village de Nöel) is not only the largest one of its kind in Belgium it also the one with the longest history, having recently celebrated 30 years of trading. Liege's Christmas Village aspires to turn the city centre into a place that is filled with the special magical and enchanting spirit of Christmas festivities.

We will also be paying a visit to Cologne Christmas Market, or more accurately “markets”, as the town offers 7 Christmas Markets in total, each providing a different experience. The largest market, at the Cathedral, offers over 160 chalets offering locally produced artisan goods.

Aachen Christmas Market has become an absolute must visit with the squares and streets round the Cathedral and Town Hall transformed into a festival of sounds, lights and colours. Enjoy mulled wine and local specialities like potato fritters, Printen (like gingerbread), Dominosteine, Spekulatius and marzipan bread, all fresh from the oven.
